Aimsel

Look at this cute sweet girl, Aimsel, who I met Saturday when she came in with some signes to be mounted. Carolyn sent her in, thanks Carolyn! We went to the Nonantum for Mother's Day Brunch and had a delicious meal, then toured the first floor to look at all the pictures we'd framed.

Saturday Saturday

Well friends, it looks as though I will simply post on Saturdays only, not that ANY of you care, nobody comments so I think nobody is visiting! Here are pictures of my good customers, Donna, Denny and Gloria, who I had such nice visits with. I really enjoy seeing such beautiful and interesting things coming into the shop, and am so grateful to be in business doing something I love. Things are picking up and the schedule is filling, which is so good, I like to stay busy.

April 24th

Both Carolyn and Rob brought posters in that they want me to plaque, this is a great way to fix posters up for hanging, no frame at all, just mounted and laminated, sort of. Ann came in to visit too, and she told us about her fun ski trips. She also took care of all the scrap mat board that piles up around here...thank you Ann!

April 22, a slow day

Naomi was the first one in today with two really interesting etchings: very detailed fun sketches of frogs and a diakon...(spellcheck doesn't like that word).  They are very fun. Then Chris brought in a painting that he'd done, and we put a very interesting frame that he had painted. Warren and Catherine came in last--we are just not that busy so look around your house for the things that need framing and bring them in!

Friday the 18th

I'm posting this Thursday night, but wanted to be sure I got this up and out--I have a print of the COMMON MACKEREL--it's a Denton print, skillfully colored and created with photographic detail, it was a brought in and left by a customer, so I have framed it, and am offering it for the price of the frame and mat. This image, of course, has the reflecting glass, but the detail shows a good close up of the color. $60

YESSS!!!

It was, in fact another sunny day, I can feel the summer coming.  Today we were looking at this picture that Gini brought in yesterday, it's an old photo of her dad, look at that sweet teddy bear. One thing I really like about my work, is being able to see these wonderful snippets. I can't wait to see this all assembled once Wilder makes the frame.  Ed brought 2 1929 French etchings in, one to have the frame restored, and the other to have a new frame. Abby, who is a potter, brought in a print of Kezar Lake where she has a cabin...lucky thing. Lois picked up her old map of Willard Beach.

Sunny 16th

The first in a string of sunny days, hopefully--today I saw Deanie, Ken, Patty and Gini. Deanie brought in a picture of her son and two awards, (or are they commendations?) of her husband's, both having to do with his benevolence. Ken picked up his prints, he has exquisite taste and had brought in his own frames. Gini has 3 sons who've all done so well, I really enjoyed our visit. I'm looking forward to more sunshine this week, maybe I can start filling my barrel in front of the shop. I don't know if I'll put in some white pansies or petunias...who has a good idea for me?

Saturday visits (that's right, all play, no work)

Hi Mary Robin! Michael, Avery and I stopped by to return a painting Michael restored for a customer and to say hello! Sorry we missed you : ( Let's plan to get together soon with you and Rachel for margaritas : )~         After Mike and Kim came in, I had a really great visit from Marie--we talked and talked, and decided that Christian needs to have another show here, all new stuff, his big work. Such big pictures one photograph will eat a whole wall, so that only five or six will even fir in the whole shop. We'll make a plan and post some show dates!

Sunshine in Maine today!

I had visits today from Claudia (Photography), Janet (who loved her picture), and Dana. Rob's girlfriend came in, too. It's a beautiful sunny day, which could account for the slowness of the day. Sweet Jeanne was in the other day with two of her daughter's lighthouse drawings, one for her and one for Ada--how lucky they both are.

April Fool's

It's April Fool's day, but no one pulled any pranks on us! Patty Morris came in with three etchings made by her (crossing fingers) son's fiancé, they are intricate and very beautiful. Patty left me with one of her CDs, wow, what a voice! Visit Patty's website to hear some of the songs from "Dukkha's Nemesis" and to find out how you can help wipe out Cystic Fibrosis--join us in supporting this worthy cause! Rachel's Tuesday painting  group was coming in just as we were closing, and it was nice to finally meet Jennifer and Judy. They painted chocolate chip cookies while I helped Christa choose a mat and frame for a black and white family photo--another day ends, Burr has left for California and I will go home a bit late today, having ended the day with bookwork.

Your guest blogger, Burr, here. My flight home today was cancelled, due to weather. It's practically April, and still snowing, so I kept Mary Robin at home to chill with me, since I was stuck here. It could be worse. I could be stuck in New York, Cincinatti, or some other city.

My Out of Town Guest

Today's blogger is a guest, Mary Robin's son, Burr, visiting from California for a long weekend.

I rushed to Maine to catch the end of your long winter, and to be with Mom for a few days. I usually visit Maine in the summer, and this is the first time I have been here in the 'spring' since about 1980. When does 'spring' really arrive here, anyway? I also got to hang out with my sister Rachel, and frame one of her original oil paints to take home. What a bonus! I also checked in with my ol' friend Christian, who is working on his MFA. He shared his work with me, and said 'art needs an audience' and explained his departure from the trope of his previous ethnographic portraits. And, I am really happy to hang out with my cool nephew, Wilder and his partner, Elise. We're all going to the Maine College of Art tonight to hear a speaker. It's a family affair with an artsy focus.

March 24

Melissa came in late yesterday to pick up her Matisse. She was delighted with the framing job. Pat came in to get her work and Ken brought us two more posters. Ellen dropped off a window frame that looks like it came from a chapel. She wants us to attach a picture from Florence on the back of it with non-glare glass. I won't be in for a few days because Burr is visiting from California. I'll catch up on the blog next week.

March 21

Hello friends,
It's the day after the first day of Spring, Rachel and WIlder came in after lunch, she to help with my blog and he to make frames. We made plans to see each other on Easter. Josh came in today to get his two photographs, with him was his darling son, Asa. Brewster picked up those great Beatles posters and Sharon picked up the photo of a 1927 wedding that her dad was in. Susan has gone off to see her grandchild, maybe we will get a picture to post!
